Castings and VIP voices: Dario Argento

Face to face with celebrities.
In the month of June, Synthesis has had the great honour of welcoming in its recording studios the director Dario Argento. On the occasion of the dubbing of Dead Space, survival horror by Electronic Arts, Dario Argento visited the Milan studios and lent his voice for one of the game’s protagonists, Dr Kyne. Synthesis’ dubbing director and audio technicians have therefore been witnesses of a veritable event, something which is moreover becoming increasingly frequent in the multimedia dubbing world, that is, the participation of famous persons to the recording sessions of videogame products. In the same period, Dario Argento’s daughter, the eclectic actress Asia, has lent her voice to the heroine of Mirror’s Edge, Faith. Always in 2008, we can mention Beppe Bergomi and Fabio Caressa, by now “memorable” commentators of FIFA 2009. Something seems evident however, and this is the tendency of video games to use the voices of persons from the cinema, sports and show business world in general in order to make their adventures even more attractive. The great public following for these titles seems in fact to confirm the attraction of that which we could call “the VIP choice”.
